Video Project Cinque Terre
The Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Park, consists of five picturesque villages in a steep, breathtaking landscape on the Ligurian coast between Genoa and La Spezia. In 2001, Annette Frei Berthoud made a film in the Cinque Terre and was fascinated by the landscape and by the efforts of the inhabitants to maintain the sensitive ecosystem of terraces and vineyards. One film became many: Annette Frei Berthoud has been coming to the Cinque Terre again and again ever since, filming the work of the winegrowers and the sardine fishermen, interviewing old people about life in the past and shooting footage of their everyday lives. Soon, many of the people who tell stories of the old days will no longer be there. Their memories should be preserved for the next generations. A publication is planned.
